As Big Data Architect and Senior Project Manager at Allianz Group, I am designing scalable Big Data platforms and leading software projects in the field of telematics, fraud detection, and asset management. Prior to that I consulted clients in the automotive, financial services and insurance industries, which are listed on the German Stock Exchange (DAX 30), for the consulting practice of Deloitte. In this function, I used to work in teams of business economists, software developers, data engineers and data scientists in order to conceptualize and develop scalable analytics platforms, which meet the business requirements of the clients. As self-employed Big Data Consultant I had already prototyped the first productive Big Data platform for a classical retailer in Germany.
As Research Associate at DESY, the Germany national research laboratory for particle physics, I have been analysing large data sets (Big Data) since 2009, and developed an algorithm to detect the heavy quark contribution to the structure function of the proton. For a period of ten years, I have been working with some of the most prominent scientists of modern times, including e.g. members of the advisory board of the world wide web committee, founders of data science, data engineering and data warehousing, co-inventors of the quark-parton model, and founders of moderns physics.
For innovative research, I have been awarded a PhD in high-energy physics from University College London, and a Diploma in theoretical particle physics from the University of Hamburg. I have been scholar of the Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung Academic Foundation, and have obtained a PhD-studentship, jointly awarded by University College London and Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY). In terms of higher education, I have studied theoretical physics and pure mathematics at the Universities of Hamburg and Rome, and have written my Diploma thesis at the French elite school Ecole Normale Superieure de Lyon.
