Dr. Tobias Bürger is currently leading the platform and architecture team in the department "Big Data, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence" at BMW Group. In his current role his mission is to provide the technological backbone for the intelligent use of data for various purposes across different divisions inside BMW Group spanning areas such as production, aftersales or Connected Drive. Prior to that he was leading all global efforts related to Big Data, personalization, and digital analytics at PAYBACK GmbH, which is part of the American Express Group. Tobias holds a PhD in Computer Science (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Innsbruck and a Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Passau. During his time in academia he worked for different research institutes focusing on Semantic Web, Linked Data, multimedia technologies and recommender systems.
